This is my final post. After 4 years of blogging, I have decided to concentrate on other things. Use the buttons to the right to find me on Goodreads and Instagram!
Read
Right Ho, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse (audiobook / library)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Bwahaha! I love these characters so much.
Deception at Lyme: Or, the Peril of Persuasion by Carrie Bebris (audiobook / library)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Obviously, not quite as good as an actual Austen novel, but one of the best sequels I’ve read. I definitely want to go back and read this entire series. I was a bit disappointed in the end for one character, but overall I enjoyed it immensely!
Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare (physical / own)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
As much as I love this play, I find it hard to rate it 5 stars. Beatrice and Benedick are fantastic characters! Beatrice puts me in mind of my beloved Elizabeth Bennet. Claudio enrages me! He can’t be bothered to woo Hero himself, he doesn’t trust anyone, he not only believes that Hero is unfaithful, but publicly shames her! Then, he continues to laugh and jest, showing only a little remorse at Hero’s fate. Argh!
Merry Christmas from Betsy by Carolyn Haywood (physical / library / with kids)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was devastated to realize that my children don’t remember the Betsy books! So, I got this lovely Christmas compilation to read to them. I might have to read a few of my favorite Betsy books to the kids in 2018 (before they get too old for them!).
Zombelina: School Days by Kristyn Crow (ebook / library / with kids)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Crow’s story is cute, of course, but for me these books are ALL about Idle’s stellar illustrations!!! Zombelina’s perfect book cracked me up!
The Big Snow by Berta Hader (physical / library / with kids)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The perfect complement to the Winter Animals study we did at the Nature Center.
Mistletoe Mysteries: Tales of Yuletide Murder by Charlotte MacLeod (ebook / library)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I always like to read some short stories for Christmas-time, and this was a great collection!
Body on Baker Street by Vicki Delany (audiobook / library)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This new series is an absolute gem! As a fan of Sherlock Holmes, I appreciate Gemma’s quirks, but even those unfamiliar with Doyle’s detective (are there such people?) could understand and enjoy Gemma. The mystery is solid, with plenty of red herrings, but it’s the characters that shine.
Of Books and Bagpipes by Paige Shelton (audiobook / library)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Convoluted plot with fantastic characters.
Flora and the Chicks: A Counting Book by Molly Idle (ebook / library / with kids)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Why yes, I did pad my GR challenge in order to have a nice round number, but it’s *Flora* and *Molly Idle*!!!
